Mineral Nutrition of the Beef Calf (2/7)

Feb 12, 2020

In Part 2 of his presentation, Dr. John Arthington reviews the trace mineral nutrition of grazing beef calves. Dr. Arthington discusses the challenges of providing calves with adequate copper, zinc and other minerals. The most important challenges for beef calves on pasture are low levels of these trace minerals in forages, the presence of antagonists in the diet such as sulfur, and managing mineral intake.

This video is Part 2 of 7 of the presentation from the 2017 Academy of Veterinary Consultants Summer Meeting in Denver, Colorado.

Happy US #NationalGrilledCheeseDay! The origins of this comfort food are traced back to ancient Roman times, but the delicious sandwich we love today is associated with a 1920s recipe.

DYK? 80% of what cows eat cannot be consumed by people – we naturally can’t digest it! But cows can recycle the things we can’t eat into nutritious feed! http://bit.ly/2jHHr56 #FeedFact
